This weekend, nine of the Rock's runners will be competing at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
In this meet, the Rock will be competing with many different schools from across the country, including several NCAA Division I schools.
There are six men and three women going to the meet.
For the men, sophomore Matt Bluman, junior Chris Geddis, sophomore Patrick Regan and sophomore Jeff Weiss will be competing in the 5,000-meter run.
Freshman Nate Hardic will be competing in the javelin and junior Jake Moore will be competing in the steeplechase.
For the women, freshman Jennifer Harpp will be competing in the 3,000-meter run, junior Holly Whoolery will be competing in the 5,000-meter run and junior Raissa Weiss will be competing in the steeplechase.
"This is one of the biggest and most competitive meets in the world," Papa said. "There are schools from all over the country competing, such as Harvard, Yale, Florida and the Boston schools. Every one sends their top runners, and there will be a lot of world-class and Olympic runners there."
Papa said the team has set high standards, but thinks the goals are attainable.
"There are a few of the runners that are capable of breaking school records," Papa said. "This is a great opportunity to improve on their times for nationals.
The top runners from the PSAC will be there so it will be a preview of next weekend in some races."
The members of the track team who are not competing at the Penn Relays will be at the Adams Invitational in Berea, Ohio.
"A handful of runners haven't qualified for the PSAC championships, and they need to do well if they want to run next weekend," Papa said.
"Also, the relay teams are going so they can improve on their times for nationals. Other than that, this meet is to warm up for the conference championships, and we want to perform at our best."
