Shortstop receives weekly honor
One of Rock softball players was honored this week by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference as SRU junior short stop Stacey Rhoades garnered PSAC Western Division Player of the Week.
Rhoades earned the honor in recognition of her role in SRU winning five of six PSAC West games and six of eight total games played last week.
She collected 10 hits in 24 at bats as her batting average was .417 during the week.
Along with the high batting average, Rhoades droved in nine RBIs and had three doubles with two home runs in Rock wins.
Rhoades has hit a school-record 12 home runs this spring.
In 2006, Rhoades had a batting average of .315 and played the most games for SRU with 44 games played and 41 games started.
Along with those numbers, she tallied 24 RBI's, 40 hits, 29 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples and 12 stolen bases.
Through 36 games this season, Rhoades has a .436 batting average, 48 hits, 31 runs scored, 10 doubles, one triple and 15 stolen bases.
Rhoades has started in all 36 games for the Rock.
Women's lacrosse continues to struggle
The SRU women's lacrosse teams remains winless on the season with another loss to Lock Haven 27-1 at home on Thursday.
Junior Krystal Handlovic scored the only goal for the Rock while freshman goalie Ashley Winkelspecht was credited with 19 saves.
Last Sunday, the Rock (0-14 overall, 0-13 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) dropped a game to Millersville by the score of 25-3. Winkelspecht was credited with 20 saves in SRU's 13th loss of the season.
Scoring the goals for the Rock were sophomore Caitlin O'Brien and juniors Brooke Scholl and Lara Winter.
The day prior to that game, the Rock dropped another conference game on the road to rival Indiana of Pa. with a score of 27-4. Once again, Winkelspecht was in net for the Rock and faced constant pressure all day. She faced a total of 50 saves and was recorded 12 saves in the loss.
O'Brien garnered two goals while Scholl and freshman Ashley Henry each added a goal to give SRU a total of four goals.
The Rock's last game of the season will take place at West Chester on Saturday as the Rock will try to get the victory.

SRU junior first basemen Dan Hudeck was named Monday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Player of the Week.
Hudeck had a batting average of .500 (15-30) during the week with 12 RBI's, four doubles and three home runs to lead SRU to six wins in eight games.
In conference action alone against Clarion and Indiana of Pa., Hudeck hit .545 with seven runs scored and 11 RBI's.
Those offensive numbers at the plate was a key component for the Rock going 5-1 in the division.
In addition, he provided the game-winning hits in three games, including a walk-off home run against IUP and a grand slam against Clarion.
Hudeck's hot bat helped keeep the Rock in contention for the PSAC West title as SRU is now 11-5 in division played and tied with California for second place, one game behind Shippensburg.
The Rock and Shippensburg will meet in a four-game series this weekend. SRU and Cal split four games earlier in the season.
