Students who count on caffeine to get through a busy day can now look to a local gourmet coffee shop to get their daily java buzz.

Rumors Coffee House, which offers a variety of specialty coffees, is located on Main Street in Slippery Rock and is open for business on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rumors Coffee House sells gourmet drinks, including lattes, cappuccinos, smoothies and teas. The store has more than 20 kinds of flavor shots to add to the freshly brewed coffee that is personally made by the owner every day.

Linda McCormick, the owner of the shop, would like college students and people in the area to become familiar with her shop and the specials that she offers.

Her business opened midway through last semester, but not many people know about the quality products offered at the local Slippery Rock cafe.

Even though the store is located in a high-traffic area, a passerby might not notice the small, yet cozy shop. But the size should not fool customers.

The quality and taste of Rumors specialty coffee is as grand as any commercial java house, without the potentially annoying and jittery franchise employee.

When asked about how she came up with the name, the owner said she has "nothing but good rumors." McCormick said that some of her customers, who claim to be harsh critics of specialty coffee, were impressed with her drinks.

"The caramel latte is a big seller," McCormick said.

Along with the reasonably priced drinks, Rumors Coffee House has breakfast sandwiches available for quick pick-up in the morning.

"You can either enjoy your purchases here or take them to go," she said.
