The Student Government Association voted to approve the motion of following legal advice and remove the original 2007-08 Vice President-elect of Financial Affairs.

SGA moved to untable the motion proposed by commuter senator Steve Winslow in order to approve a solution regarding the position of Vice President of Financial Affairs, Michael Combs.

"To approve the resolution means we will be able to take the legal advice we were given," SGA President Amie Homa said.

"I think it would be in the best interest of the organization to follow the legal advice that was given to us," said SGA 2007-08 President-elect Larry Brink.

The motion made by Winslow stated, "The Senate acknowledges that the Election Commission and the Executive Committee violated the legally-binding Constitution of the SRSGA, Inc., by allowing Michael Combs to run for Vice President of Financial Affairs even though he failed to meet the qualification guidelines to run for executive office set forth in the Constitution.

"In order to comply with the Constitution, the Senate hereby rules that Michael Combs was never eligible to run for executive office and deems his candidacy null-and-void."

At the end of the meeting Combs said, "I am going to run again. Both sides had fair arguments, but what SGA decided was fair and they did the right thing."

In other news, SGA provided the funding used to put in a new student lounge in the McKay Education Building.
