Third floor library noise a bother

Noise is encroaching on the silence of the third floor of Bailey Library. The first two floors are reserved for discussion. Those not disturbed by sound or doing group work may happily place themselves there. However, for those who require silence, the third floor is reserved for them.

Technological leaps a risky matter

The prospect of RFIDs is one that has a promising outlook, but looks can be deceiving. There are very real security and privacy issues that need to be addressed in advance of implementing a new RFID system on campus. There are reasons why Slippery Rock will become the first institution to use RFIDs as a personal identification system, and it isn't because it's a new technology.

Faculty strike imminent

You may be aware that the faculty contract expires this summer on June 30. Regrettably, negotiations are proceeding glacially. It is not biased to say that this is because the State System is not being very serious: their current offer to the faculty has been to give a 0 percent pay increase for the next four years.
