"We will have many types of music," Permenter said. "The festival will feature performances by brass bands, the Three Rivers Jazz Orchestra, guitar duos and the SRU Orchestra."
The visual arts will also maintain a strong presence at this year's event, Permenter said.
"Festival patrons will have the opportunity to meet Native American artists, as well as illustrators of graphic novels and film directors," Permenter said.
Several students look forward to the festival as an opportunity to share their interests with others.
"It sounds like a great event for family," Ryan Wise, a graduate student in English, said. "I've always liked poetry, and this will be an opportunity to share that interest with people I care about."
April 21 is designated as children's day. This day will include a talent show, children's dance performances, storytelling and various arts and crafts. It will conclude with a book signing by Stine, a bestselling children's author.
"We can really see how great our university is when we are able to attract world-renowned writers like R.L. Stine," Gordon Ovenshine, of the university's public relations office, said. "When university-sponsored events are able to make an impact, you know you're doing something right."
With the diverse exhibits and activities, there are many ways for students to enjoy the Kaleidoscope Festival at SRU and in the surrounding community, Permenter said.
"There will be something for everyone," she said.
