Mercyhurst scored the only second period goal, then scored the first of three goals in the third period to take a 4-2 lead with 4:08 left in the quarter. The Rock fought back and tied the score at 4-4 with 15 seconds left in third period, with goals scored by Brunner and Sander.Mercyhurst took a 5-4 lead into the final regulation period. SRU then tied it up again via a Choike goal as both teams were evened up, 5-5.

Mercyhurst scored a goal with 45 seconds left in regulation, as it looked like that all hope was lost, but Sander scored her second goal of the game and tied the score at 6-6 to send the game into overtime. Choike scored her fourth goal of the game with 58 seconds left in the first overtime period to answer the Mercyhurst goal a minute earlier. Walbirght's goal with seven seconds left in the second overtime period answered another Mercyhurst goal a minute earlier and forced a third and final overtime period.

Mercyhurst won the face off of the third overtime period and scored the game, winning shot 12 seconds into the period. With these losses, SRU now holds a record of 3-11.

"Considering a year ago we didn't have a team, that isn't bad," Yeamans said. "We have played tough teams as well as ranked teams"

The Rock will take a rematch with Mercyhurst and then will take on St. Francis of New York at the Siena Invitational in Loudonville, N.Y., Saturday.

In 2006, the Rock went 3-0-1 in the tournament and took home the tourney's championship.

"We won it a year ago," Yeamans said. "It was fun and we are going to defend our title."
