Two track athletes garner PSAC weekly honors
Rock standouts Nate Hardic and Jeff Weiss were named Monday as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. Hardic, freshman, earned the Field Athlete of the Week honor by winning the javelin throw with a toss of 180 feet, eight inches last Saturday in the Early Bird Invitational hosted by California U. of Pa. In his first meet of his career, the Coastal Carolina Invitational, he registered the league's best mark so far this season with an NCAA provisional toss of 204-8.25. Weiss earned the Track Athlete of the Week honor by running away from the competition to win the 10,000-meter run event in the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond (Va.). His conference-leading and NCAA provisional time of 29:56.30 established a new meet record and beat his PSAC-best time from a year ago by over 17 seconds.
