Feature - The baby doll dress is my feature pick of the week for a sexy yet sweet look this season.

Baby doll dresses are the new big thing. I first noticed them more than a year ago in a photo of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and admired the girls' ability to pull off such a childish look and still maintain their growing sex appeal.

The baby doll dress is an innocent look. It says, "I'm innocent but I've got knockout legs and I'll prove it." Baby doll dresses often have a whimsical, delicate appeal. Generally made out of chiffon or light cottons, they usually have a sweet flow to them.

Baby doll dresses are not tight fitting so they leave quite a bit to the imagination, and yet they make the imagination run wild as the material lightly moves with the legs. Then there's always a slight chance that the right gust of wind could move that airy material in such a way that it would leave nothing to the imagination.

Deal of the day - Kaufmann's kicked off its Spectacular Super Sale Wednesday, March 8 at 10 a.m. and it will continue for five days. The sale ends March 12, so try to hit up Kaufmann's as soon as you can to get all the great deals. The sale is an "up to 50 percent off already marked down winter clearance sale," so you can get a jump-start on next year by adding a few classic fashion staples like plain long sleeved knits, blazers and jeans to your closet at a low price.

The sale also includes 15 percent off selected regular priced items. I've been to this sale in past years and it's a great chance to pick up blazers, suiting, beauty items and accessories at a great price and check out all the new spring merchandise while you're there.

Trend to try - Scarves may seem old-fashioned and outdated to us Generation-Y people, but I think they have potential. Wrapping a scarf around your neck or head is daring and with the right outfit, can look perfectly pulled together.

I think a light scarf used as a headband can be so cute, especially if the hair behind the scarf is teased up to give it that retro look. Also, scarves tied at the natural waistline cinch a woman's figure in way that makes anything you're wearing look feminine.

Out with the old - Prints are the new solids this season. No more monochromatic boring hues; leap into spring with patterns and punches of color. From hats to flats, there is no reason to walk out of the house in one shade. Looks this spring should display a palette of colors and patterns. Also, don't be afraid to mix and match patterns here and there, as I've already seen some patchwork pieces on the runway this year.

You can make a pattern work for you in many different ways but, as always, the most fun way to spruce up your wardrobe is with accessories. Purses, jewelry, and especially shoes are in the spotlight this season. Let your clothes be the backdrop and your accessories take center stage. Patterns take guts, so wear them with confidence or you'll never pull it off.

Long nails are so over! Say goodbye to your 2-inch long acrylics with rhinestones and decals. They are now about as trashy as a waitress with hair down to her tailbone and bangs rising eight inches above their natural position so that in the right light you can almost see what's next to the pudding in the buffet behind her.
Don't worry, this hasn't been a faux pas for too long. I just cut back my acrylics and then got rid of them all together less than six months ago.
For future reference though, short, sporty nails kept neatly manicured in bright colors or a simple French is the way to go for this season.
