Of the 68 organizations that participated in the Summer Employment and Internship Fair Tuesday afternoon, 15 of them were searching for exercise science majors to fill summer internships.

Summer Job Fair Coordinator Cathy Saylor said the fair, which was held in the Multi-purpose Room at the University Union, was sponsored by Career Services. The purpose of this fair was to give employers an opportunity to meet with students, and to give students a chance to see what's out there.

Corporate Fitness Works Representative Bill Graham said Corporate Fitness Works has participated in this event for the past five years. Graham said there are facilities all over the East Coast, and each facility will hire one summer intern. Corporate Fitness Works hired Graham, an SRU alumnus, after his summer internship with them.

Erin Reynolds, sophomore exercise science major, said she is getting an early start on the internship process. Reynolds said getting an internship would be helpful, but the job fair was mainly a tool to gain knowledge.

For Reynolds, the job fair was helpful because she didn't realize just how many areas of exercise science there were.

Other organizations, including the Sequanota Conference Center and Summer Camp, attended the job fair to give students internships or summer jobs.

Bob Williams, a representative from Sequanota, said the camp is offering both summer jobs and internships. Williams said the camp is looking for camp counselors, lifeguards, adventure guides and arts and crafts coordinators. They are looking for environmental education or elementary education majors for their internships.
