The Slippery Rock University men's and women's swimming teams capped off their seasons with respective eighth and 10th place finishes in the PSAC championships last weekend at Clarion University.

Though outmanned, numbers-wise, members of both the men's and women's teams were able to put together some of the best performances of the year.

Following Wednesday's 12th place effort in the 1,000-yard freestyle by Megan Jo Ramage, the Rock received top performances from graduate student Jen Zuzack, who finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.76.

Zuzack joined teammates Ramage, Jessica Student and Heather Walbright to place 10th in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:11.90, nearly eight seconds faster than their preliminary qualifying time. Also for the women, Lauren Hervatin, Student, Alana Galvin and Stacey Henry placed 12th in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:49.92)

For the men, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Leland Thompson, Scott Taylor, Bradley Bowers and Kevin Maksinchuk took eighth place with a time of 1:30.16.

On Friday, the third day of competition, the Rock women were led by fifth-place finishes Ramage in the 400-yard individual medley (4:44.21), and Zuzack in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.36). Ramage and Zuzack joined Student and Walbright to take home a 10th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:56.91). Walbright also finished 13th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.38) for SRU.

On the men's side, Thompson's fourth place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke paced the way for the Rock. Teammates Bowers (1:01.80) and Taylor (1:03.15) finished ninth and 12th respectively in the same event. Bowers and Taylor then teamed up with Zach Liddle and Maksinchuk to finish eighth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.81). Taylor also finished 11th in the men's 100-yard butterfly (54.64).

Finally, on the last day of competition, Zuzack again came up with a standout performance in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing third, with a time of 2:10.26. Also for the women, Zuzack joined teammates Ramage, Walbright and Hervatin to finish 11th in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:45.94).
