Kissing is truly an art form.

Michael Christian enlightened a crowd of SRU students Tuesday evening with excerpts from his award-winning novel, "The Art of Kissing." The book has been published in 19 different languages, read by more than 100,000 people across the country and featured on numerous radio talk shows, including "The View."

Christian's demonstration featured 30 different techniques to improve your kissing.

"I was just like you," he said. "I wanted to improve my sex life, but it didn't work."

Christian said that becoming a good kisser was the key.

He asked students what they especially like about kissing the opposite sex. Some responses were nibbling on the upper lip, touching the face and not being too aggressive.

Four couples took part in these demonstrations, which started off with some role-play scenarios that showed various ways in which couples could be close to each other.

Christian got the audience involved in the discussion, asking the women about their kissing preferences. He said the neck is the favorite place for a woman to be kissed, and most women prefer to be kissed on the ears twice as much as men.

For the men, aggression is more popular, including nibbling on earlobes.

He also described some different types of kisses. Christian said that a shy kiss consists of hardly looking at the person, moving the head left to right (just avoiding eye contact) and then touching the lips and cheek.

He said for a more erotic method, take the person's hand, grab a finger and try to bite, suck and kiss the finger.

Lastly, but certainly not least, French kissing was highlighted as being a chance for the human tongue to express what was inside the human soul. In a humorous skit, two students pulled red pillowcases over their heads and simulated two human tongues interacting during kissing. The important thing to know, Christian mentioned, is to get contact, then flicker the tips gently in a slow, rotating action, playing chase, back and forth.

As a final wrap-up, the American kiss was featured, as couples kissed their partners on the cheek, then lips, then moved their left legs over their partners' laps and spanked them.
