Interviews for the Slippery Rock University Vice President for Student Life are open to the entire campus, the Student Government Association announced at its meeting Thursday.
Robert Watson said he hopes everyone would seriously consider serving the university as a student trustee.
"I can't encourage you enough to become actively involved in the selection of the next vice president for student life," Watson said.
Watson said that if students want particular characteristics on the individuals being interviewed, they should attend the meetings and voice their opinion.
The next interviews for the position are Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m., Jan 31 at 4:30 p.m. and Feb. 2 at 4:30 p.m. in room 156 of North Hall.
President Julie Hepner said there is no updated information about the new University Union. The University Union Task Force cannot move forward with the construction until it is decided who will build the new building. The task force will be meeting with President Robert Smith concerning this decision soon.
In other SGA news, the SGA constitution has been revised to accommodate the changes in residence halls on campus.
Since Founders Hall will be demolished in May, the Founders Hall senate position has been removed from the Constitution, Parliamentarian Hayley Zanella said.
Among other alterations, two freshman positions for application will be available in the fall semester, Zanella said.
"(Zanella) has done a lot to try and make it more fair to everyone across campus," Hepner said.
Vice President for Advancement Amie Homa announced at the meeting that the arch intended to improve the Kiester campus entrance is not big enough. The Beautification Committee is looking into pillars similar to those that flank the Morrow Way entrance.
President Hepner said the pillars would be paid for by the SGA this year, as a gift for, not from, the graduating seniors.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Kurt Sterling said he is looking for help for the Who's Who committee to recognize juniors, seniors and graduates for Who's Who Among American College Students.
Students with a 3.5 QPA or higher, who complete an application for this recognition will be considered by the committee.
In campus news, the Slippery Rock University Ultimate Frisbee and Black Belt Club, two organizations formally recognized by the university, were recognized by the SGA to receive funding.
In other senate news, the SGA elected Senator Matt Merulli to fill the vacant cooperative activities senator. There are two co-op at large positions still open.
Danielle Vinglish was unanimously elected to fill the vacant commuter senator seat.
There are still vacant Founders, Sentinel, Sumit, Fairview, Towers and Rock Apartments senate positions.
Nominations for next year's senate will be held March 28 and 29.
The next senate meeting will be held on Feb. 9 at 12:35 p.m. in room 207 of the University Union.
