Runway shopping can be affordable

This morning I slipped into my silk Gucci camisole, put on a cashmere crop cardigan and pulled my True Religion jeans over my low-rise Calvin Klein panties. I strapped on my suede Manolo Blahnik mary janes, threw on a few strands of Argento Vivo beads, and made a stop at the mirror for a quick touch up with Dior pressed powder. Then I woke up and realized that I'm a starving college student.
Jill is my name, and fashion is my game. I will be writing the fashion column this semester. My passion for fashion qualifies me for this job. I love fashion, I'm a freak for fads, coo coo for couture and absolutely silly over style. There's something about a pair of python skin stilettos, a cashmere sweater or a satin skirt with a big bow that really gets my blood pumping.
In order for me to eat and support my habit/passion (shopping), I have another job. I work in designer retail at BCBG Maxazria at the Grove City Outlet Mall. Now it is also my duty to inform the Slippery Rock University community of what's hot, what's not and where to go to get the deals. I'm not going to criticize or merely tell you what's the "in" look of the season, I'm going to tell you where and when the sales are going down and how to get that runway look for half the cost.
I'm going to let you in on some new features that I will include weekly in this column, like, "Deal of the Day," "That's So Ten Minutes Ago" and "Splurge vs. Steal."
"So Ten Minutes Ago" will be like the fashion public service announcement of the week to inform you of the recent fads that failed or other styles that people might still think are a good idea, but just aren't.
In "Splurge vs. Steal" I will be your personal fashion huntress. Every week I will hunt down the most fabulous outfit I can find straight off the runway and tally the cost, but that's not all. I will find a way to recreate the same idea of that outfit within the budget of a starving SRU girl. I know what it's like to dump out your bag in Neiman's in hopes of making up those last $3 with change.
