
"'Tis Pity She's a Whore", a somber play about an incestuous love affair between a brother and sister, premiered to a sold out Slippery Rock audience Wednesday night in Miller Auditorium. The play, written by John Ford in 1633, is a melancholy tale of forbidden love between siblings Annabella and Giovanni.
Calvin Standing Bear, a full-blooded Oglala/Sicangu Lakota from the Rosebud reservation of South Dakota, gave a performance of the Native American Flute at Swope Recital Hall on Wednesday. Standing Bear played many traditional Lakota songs as well as some contemporary Lakota music he had composed himself.
Let's face it... almost all of us have had crappy jobs. Jobs so monotonous, so mundane, that they're maddening. We've cleaned up messes, tolerated rude customers, worked overtime, got headaches from whiny children, been reprimanded for misconduct, heard more information about a coworker's personal life than we would ever want to and, of course, had to deal with a loud, cocky, tyrannical boss.
The biggest story of the week has to go to Green Day and their latest video. Earlier this month, Billie Joe and the boys shot a video for their fifth single off of their critically acclaimed masterpiece American Idiot, "Jesus of Suburbia." Now, the significance of that isn't the fact that Green Day is going to have a new video, or the fact that releasing five singles off of one album is rare these days.
