The biggest story of the week has to go to Lindsay Lohan. The pop star was involved in an automobile accident Tuesday that fortunately didn't seriously injure anyone involved.
Though it was originally reported that the accident had been related to paparazzi chasing the singer through West Hollywood, local police now believe it may have had something to do with an illegal u-turn made by the man who was driving the van Lohan crashed into.
Regardless of whose fault it was, it is worth noting that the governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, passed a bill earlier this year that will crack down on photographers who commit assault while pursuing a subject. In other words, it will put a big, and much needed, leash on the crazed paparazzi. The law will not go into effect until January of next year.
In other pop news, Lohan's latest former best-friend, now hated enemy, Ashlee Simpson will be returning to Saturday Night Live this weekend to perform her latest single "Boyfriend," a track that has been highly rumored to be written about the "Herbie" star.
Though Simpson swears she will actually be singing this time, keep your eyes peeled and ears ready to make sure what you hear lines up with what you see. Either way, let's hope we don't see that horrific jig ever again.
Moving on to hip-hop, Eminem is back in court again, kind of. The Detroit rapper is suing five ring tone companies for using his songs to sell on the Internet. The companies named are Cellus USA, FanMobile, Nextones.com, MyPhoneFiles and MatrixM. According to reports, his attorney claimed that his client could be losing "hundreds of thousands of dollars" due to companies using his tones without his consent.
A man Mr. Mathers knows quite well made news this week when rumors of 50 Cent and his G-Unit joining forces with Beanie Sigel and his State Property gained momentum and moved even closer to becoming reality. Sigel told MTV this week that the possibility of the two forces coming together may be bigger than people think. According to the State Property member, he says he and 50 could very easily, "shock the world."
