Field hockey suffers fourth shutout

The Slippery Rock University field hockey team suffered its fourth shutout loss of the 2005 season, falling 5-0 to the East Stroudsburg Warriors Sunday.
The loss brings the team's record to (0-7 PSAC, 0-8 Overall).
At the end of the first half, the Rock trailed the Warriors, 1-0. However, the defense gave up four goals in the second half en route to the loss.
Sophomore's Janice Feduke and Heather Hassinger each earned one shot on goal in the losing effort. Junior goalie Tara Bailey earned seven saves in the game.
Scoring for East Stroudsburg were Ashley Kocis and Kristen Trois, who each picked up two goals, while Sarah Cordota added one goal for the Warriors.
The Rock has now lost to six teams ranked in the National Field Hockey Associations national top-ten poll in its first eight games. East Stroudsburg was ranked sixth in the latest poll.
On Friday, the Rock fell to the Kutztown Golden Bears, 1-0. Kutztown's Lindsey Bosarth's scored the only goal of the game at the 24:38 mark of the first half. Mandi Turner assisted on the goal.
"It was a very good game," Rock coach Sergio Gonzalez said. "We defended very well."
Kutztown (9-2, 4-2) was the fifth top-10 team that the Rock has faced in its first eight games so far.
"Overall, we battled very well," Gonzalez said.
The Rock will now get ready for a three-game road trip which will take SRU to Shippensburg on Saturday, Indiana on Tuesday, and will conclude with Washington & Jefferson on Thursday.
