Christianity is something to be shared
Issue date: 9/30/05 Section: Rocket Letters
To the Editor:
Before I begin I would like to clear up a few things. Please do not confuse Christianity with the Church of Scientology. Christianity stands apart from the rest of the world's religions. Many of our beliefs differ from theirs and we do not worship the same "god (s)" that other religions claim. Among the many things that we believe, we believe that there is one God revealed in three persons, God the Father (God in Heaven), God the Son (Jesus the Messiah, God in the flesh), and God the Holy Spirit (God's Spirit that is at work within his believers and this world). We also believe that there is only one way to Heaven because there is only one way to be cleansed from our sins and that is through Christ Jesus' death and resurrection. In his own words he stated "I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6) The core of our beliefs is not about religion. The center of our worship is not filled up with rituals and ceremonies, but rather we are about having a one-on-one, intimate relationship with Christ Jesus. This is our passion. Not big buildings and fancy windows.
Perhaps like most Christians, before they gave their lives over to Christ, you are confused about the many different philosophies out there and are simply trying to make sense of them all. Perhaps you simply don't care and would rather live your life in peace. However, I will dismiss the latter and accept the former, since it was you who willingly read the article and responded with such great conviction. From personal experience I know that there is no peace aside from Christ. Maybe you have been led astray in the past by some hypocritical "Christians" or a self-righteous church. I will let you examine why it is you feel this way, as you should. Perhaps my words are getting to you. Good! But you don't have to feel as if you are alone. Everyone goes through a period of seeking answers. Many, unfortunately, tend to give up, but more often than not, those who diligently seek for the answers and do not choose to rest until they are satisfied, will find the answers to their questions in Christ Jesus.
