Slippery Rock University has invited six candidates to be interviewed for the position of provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Bruce Russell, dean of the College of Business, Information and Social Science, reviewed applications from each candidate along with eight other faculty members after the deadline of March 28.
"We had a good qualified pool of candidates and that is what made it hard to narrow it down," Russell said.
The search committee made a decision on what applicants to interview on April 14.
Russell said if all goes as planned, the first candidate should be on campus April 18 and 19.
The candidate will meet with the president's cabinet, dean counsel, SRU President Robert Smith and the search committee.
All students are encouraged to get involved with the process. Christopher Cole, director of student organizations and leadership, is coordinating times for students to meet with candidates twice during their visits to campus.
There will be two open forums for the SRU community to meet candidates and ask questions.
The first opportunity to meet the first candidate will be April 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Strain Behavioral Science Building.
The second chance for individuals to meet the first candidate will be April 19 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Russell Wright Alumni House.
