Men's tennis loses to Marauders

The Rock men's tennis team lost 7-2 to Millersville University at SRU on Friday, March 18.

The team won a singles and a doubles match in the loss.

"We didn't play to our potential, if we would have we could have beat them," coach Paul DiTomasso said.

John Crossley won the No. 6 singles match 6-2, 6-3. He then teamed up with Zack Thomas to win the No. 3 doubles match 8-6. The Rock tennis team is now 3-7 for the season.

"We are definitely starting to rise, we should win the rest and finish above .500 for the season," DiTomasso said.

In the other singles matches, at the No. 1 singles spot, Ryan Steeh lost to Greg Bennet of Millersville in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. In the No. 2 singles match, SRU's Rich Moore lost to Clifford Boyd, 6-1, 6-1. At the No. 3 singles position, Keith Kopelcheck lost to Brian Kessler in three sets, taking the first set, 6-4 but then losing in the next two sets, 6-3, 6-4. At the No. 4 singles position, Zack Thomas of the Rock lost to Chris Matisse, 6-3, 6-1. In the No. 5 singles match, Adam Shosky of the Rock lost to Scott Smith in three sets. Shosky won the second set, 6-3, but lost the first set, 6-4 and the third set, 10-5.

In the No. 1 doubles match, Steeh and Kopelcheck lost to Boyd and Bennett, 8-2, while Moore and Shosky lost to Kessler and Matisse in the No. 2 doubles match, 8-4.

The match against Washington and Jefferson on Thursday, March 18 was postponed due to the unplayable court conditions. The Rock will face Washington and Jefferson on April 27 at home.

The Rock will be competing in Bloomsburg duals today through Sunday.

"The match against Bloomsburg will be tough; we have another chance against Millersville," DiTomasso said. "Queens and Franklin Pierce we should beat and we could leave Bloomsburg 3-1."
