A kayak roll clinic was held in Aebersold Recreation Center on Tuesday to help individuals learn and improve kayaking skills.
The session was open to anyone interested in attending and was free to Slippery Rock University students and ARC members aged 18 or older.
The kayak roll clinic Web site lists some of the techniques taught and practiced at the clinics, which are offered throughout the semester. Included in these skills are the draw, sweep, brace, wet exit and Eskimo roll. These techniques are used on kayaking trips the Outdoor Adventures Club takes.
The next kayak adventure weekend will be held April 16 and 17. The next clinic will be held on March 30, with four more clinics being held in April. All kayak roll clinics are held in the ARC pool from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This weekend, members of the Outdoor Adventures Club can be found caving at Casparis, cliffs located primarily in Connellsville Township. During the spring recess, the club will be traveling to the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina.
