Just don't call her a psychic.
"The term psychic really mystifies it too much," Belanger said. "Psychic implies that only select people can do it, when in fact, everyone has the capacity to use something other than their five senses."
Belanger is a graduate of John Carroll University with a double major in English and Religious Studies. She is a successful, published author and a consultant for various published works.
She also happens to be the founder of a cult community and the singer of a goth metal band.
"There is a real stigma that those of us associated with metaphysics are dumb or are mentally incapable," Belanger said. "In actuality, we're people just like everyone else."
Her main lecture topic was on the manipulation of energy through meditation and Eastern philosophies.
"Everyone has felt a bad energy at some point," Belanger said. "For example, if you've ever walked into a room where two people were just arguing and you could tell there was a negative vibe in the room, then you've experienced metaphysics."
One of the major topics of Belanger's lecture focused on obtaining, releasing and shielding energy. She said that energy is best equated with water and must be constantly flowing in the body for overall wellness.
Belanger said that vital energy is everywhere in the world around us.
"There is energy floating everywhere," Belanger said. "People release their positive and negative energies constantly and they're just recycled into the world around us."
Besides obtaining, releasing and shielding energy, one thing she discussed were energy vampires, people that steal or "suck out" other people's energy. She said that these people are rare, but like any group of people, there are always "a few bad apples."
Another area Belanger spoke about was Feng Shui and the flow of energy in a room.
"Feng Shui is becoming a big thing now, but most people don't know that it is rooted in energy flow," Belanger said. "One small detail with Feng Shui is to not put your bed directly in front of the door (on the opposite side of the room), because then all of the energy that goes through the door goes right to your bed."
