The 2005 Academy Awards have come and gone, but the fashions from the event will continue to be acclaimed or criticized for several weeks to come. There were some beautiful, ravishing fashions, but with all of the best that fashion has to offer came some of the worst.
Designers like Christian Dior, Versace and Oscar de la Renta introduced stunning and amazing gowns and tuxedos. The actresses that made the greatest impression not only wore these top designers, but also had flawless hair, and a natural makeup look seemed to be a theme for the red carpet.
One actress that never fails to impress at the major awards is former Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow. Paltrow waltzed the red carpet in a stunning silk pale pink gown by Stella McCartney. To finish the look, Paltrow wore Dior makeup and Jimmy Choo shoes.
Another great one of the night was Penelope Cruz. Not only did she wear a gorgeous luminescent yellow gown by Oscar de la Renta, but like Paltrow, she topped off her look with a light makeup.
Beyonce Knowles is the winner for the most changes of the night, as she wore three separate gowns, and incredibly, each gown was amazing. For her performance of the Oscar nominated song, "Learn to be Lonely," she wore a plain black gown, but topped it off with a diamond necklace that was worth enough to feed a small country. She then wore a shimmering silver gown for her final on-stage performance.
Though these outfits did suit her well, her red carpet gown was the best of the night. She wore a strapless black velvet gown by Versace with greatly accented makeup and an up do.
Natalie Portman received a great deal of criticism for her Golden Globe gown. Though she wore a similar style gown to the Oscars, she managed to hit the bull's-eye. She wore a taupe Roman column gown with a gold trim by Lanvin, a more elegant and appropriate look than we saw last month.
Halle Berry also looked ravishing in a one strap Atelier Versace gray silk chiffon gown with a vintage embroidered skirt. Berry also came with a natural makeup look and her hair was long any wavy and was free flowing down her back.
