The SRU swimming teams lost to IUP last Saturday at Morrow Field House, but coach Andrew Waeger was pleased with several strong individual performances.

"We met and exceeded expectations," Waeger said.

The women's team lost 127-111, but the big story was Rachel Stultz. At her last home meet of her career, Stultz set a Morrow Field House record in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:45.58. She also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.86. Stultz was also on the 400-yard freestyle relay team, which took first place with a time of 3:45.73. Other members of the 400-yard freestyle relay team were Jen Zuzack, Cassie Howard and Megan Jo Ramage.

The Rock women also had two other first place finishes. Liz Penning won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.77. Cassie Howard won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.23.

The Rock men also lost to IUP last weekend with a score 139-78.

The men had three first place finishes. Zach Liddle won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:28.48; Tom Lawton was second with a time of 5:38.80; and Kellen Cassidy third with a time 5:55.13

It was a one-two finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. Zach Wolary won the event with a time of 2:22.35 and Doug Gerould finished second with a time of 2:23.59.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team also got first place with a time of 3:25.95. Members of the relay team were Troy Kroll, Kevin Maksinchuk, Bradley Bowers and BJ Barch.

This was also the last home meet for seniors Bridgette Rhoades, Mayumi Oka and Jodie Smith.

"They swam really well in their last home meet." Waeger said.

Waeger said the swimmers have had a good season to this point.

"Our performance was good; some have had great seasons and others have had good seasons," he said. "After this weekend and conference championships everyone will have at least one lifetime best and that is something special."

Waeger said the team is focusing on the PSAC championships.

"We are a close knit team and a young team and after this weekend our focus is conference championships." Waeger said.
