Mark Kratz and Danielle Vinglish take oaths as they are sworn into SGA senator positions during yesterday´s meeting.

The Slippery Rock University Student Government Association swore in two commuter senators during its meeting yesterday.

The two new commuter senators are Mark Kratz and Danielle Vinglish. Kratz is the creator and president of the College Republicans at SRU.

Vinglish has participated in the Freshman Leadership Program and said she has been waiting patiently for her chance to become involved in SGA since then.

While SGA welcomes these new senators, two other senators, Nancy Yonkey and Bethany Lawrence, relinquished their roles as commuter and North Hall senators, respectively.

SGA Vice President for Administrative Affairs Stacey May said SGA will be looking to fill those positions in the next few weeks.

In other SGA news:

SGA President Jude Butch announced there will be a meeting on Feb. 8 to discuss a new intramural complex to be built on Harmony Road. The meeting will be to encourage the university to help as much as possible, Butch said.

There will be a meeting next week to further discuss the possibility of SRU implementing a fall break starting next year. As it looks now, the fall break would be a long weekend, with a Monday and Tuesday off after said weekend.

It was also announced that a new 1,600 bed residence hall should be ready by August 2006. The next senate meeting will be held on Feb. 17 at 12:30 p.m. in room 206 of the University Union.
