Campus needs decision on diversity to be a unified one

Abstract:
The Student Government Association last Thursday, Oct. 29 amended its constitution and adopted diversity training for students that receive a stipend this them.

This will guarantee that all staff members will have at least some training in how to be more sensitive toward minority groups on campus....

Forcing people to be trained on how to be more sensitive towards minority groups (so they can get money). This is what is wrong with our country, everyone feels they need to be special and treated as such! All people and groups are free to believe in what they want and practice their beliefs as a person or group. I don't feel this is right to force upon these people. Maybe the minority groups should be forced into training on how to be sensitive towards us "Normal" groups. It is bad enough that Obama is ruining this country to the point that civil war is what it will probably take to change the country for it to be better, not him. Let people be free to feel how they want based on their beliefs, after all, is this not a free country, or at least used to be! Government from federal down to the SGA wants to control everything now a days and that is not how it was meant to be, and it always seems to revolve around money! Government runs the banks, the auto industry, housing, health care and soon you! Freedom as we once knew it is gone. Stand up for what is right and stop letting all forms of government control everything you do and in this case think!

Most public institution Student Government officers are compensated for serving in student government. But ASGA isnt aware of any other student governments that require "diversity training" to receive the compensation.

I'm a proponent of training, but it should encompass much more than specifically diversity training. It should include all aspects of being an effective leader.
