In a statement released by the University Program Board (UPB) Thursday afternoon on Twitter, the Roddy Rich spring concert has been cancelled “due to the recent closure of Slippery Rock University’s campus and the transition to remote learning for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester.”
Derek Brewer, a junior advertising major and director of Concerts and Comedians, said in an emailed statement that he is really sad the outcome had to be like this and that he works hard on these events for the students.
Refunds for original ticket holders only will begin Friday the 17. Those who purchased tickets with their card can see a refund on their card within a week.
Students who purchased tickets with cash will see a refund in the form of a check mailed to their SRU Banner Address. Students should wait two to four weeks for their checks to arrive.
“No one needs distractions more than now, and music is the best distraction in my opinion,” Brewer said. “I wanted this to be great for everyone, but no one should risk their lives for a concert.”
In their Twitter statement, UPB said that they appreciate the patience during this unique situation and are looking forward to providing new entertainment experiences in the future.
